The whole Indian Nation was shocked about the remarks made by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Miss Mayawati at Lucknow, on 15th June।: Miss Mayawati While addressing party functionaries on Saturday, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister called Mahatma Gandhi natakbaaj (a phony) who, she claimed, staged a “drama” by visiting Dalit homes and eating meals with them while doing little to help their cause।

She has come under severe criticism for her shocking remarks against the Father of the Nation. Miss Mayawati referred to Mahatma Gandhi while comparing the Congress general secretary Mr Rahul Gandhi with him. She derided Mr Gandhi for cosying up to Dalits by visiting their homes and eating meals with them. She said this was “drama” enacted by him in the interest of vote-bank politics. She went on to say that during his lifetime, Mahatma Gandhi too had resorted to such tactics. According to insiders who attended the meeting, the self-proclaimed Dalit leader said: “Visiting Dalit villages, eating and sleeping with the poor villagers and putting up a show of equality has been an old tactic of parties (like the Congress) to gain votes... Even Gandhi resorted to drama like this during his lifetime.

Her tirade against Mr Gandhi came after the state Congress announced plans to celebrate Mr Rahul Gandhi’s birthday as Samrasta Divas (Social Harmony and Equality Day) in the state on 19 June। On the

occasion, Congressmen will visit Dalit localities and homes and share meals with them.
During this second meeting of party functionaries called after the election, Miss Mayawati called upon BSP workers to ensure an attendance of more than one lakh at public meetings on the same day at headquarters in every district. She also distributed pamphlets among party workers in which she accused the Congress and other parties of engaging in a casteist conspiracy to stop her from becoming Prime Minister.Criticism followed her statement with state-level political leaders across the Opposition slammed her for her remarks.
Matawati was trying to keep the Dalit vote bank in her safe deposit, but the recent election has blown apart her dreams। Mr Gandhi has been working determinedly to implement development programmes for the Dalits, while Miss Mayawati hasn’t visited a single Dalit home or called a Dalit to her residence even once during the last two years of her being in power in U।P।

Mayavati must withdraw her senseless remarks about the Father of Indian Nation Mahathma Gandhiji.
