Nalini or anyone connected to the killing of Rajiv Gandhi should be punished.

Nalini or anyone connected to the killing of Rajiv Gandhi should be punished.

It was a planned attack by some opposition group in India or somewhere , whose intention was that Rajiv Gandhi should not be allowed to become the Prime Minister of India.

They have had a settlement with LTTE people and this cruel Drama was enacted. Priyanka being a innocent girl, she believed that what Nalini told was all true. But we are giving here the statement of the SC judges for the information of Priyanka and for our reader’s.Already LTTE regretted for this cruel action for which they have been instigated by political parties which they only knows.

Point-by-point, Justice Wadhwa rejected the arguments. “It is not that Nalini did not understand the nature of the crime and her participation. She was a willing party to the crime. We have to see both the crime and the criminal,” he said. “Nalini, in her association with Murugan and others, developed great hatred towards Rajiv Gandhi and wanted revenge. Merely because Nalini is a woman and a mother of the child, who was born while she was in custody, cannot be the ground not to award the extreme penalty to her,” Justice Wadhwa said. “When we think of the crime, we find that along with Rajiv Gandhi 15 others, including personal security officer to Gandhi P K Gupta and Kokilavani, also lost their lives. What about their families, one may ask,” was the poser from Justice Wadhwa to Nalini’s counsel. Justice Quadri, who held the decisive card after Justice Thomas and Justice Wadhwa were divided over award of death sentence to Nalini, appeared torn between emotion and the duty of a judge. “Indeed the dilemma whether sentence of death should be pronounced upon a woman has been troubling my mind for a considerable time. Surely in our culture, a woman has to be treated with beneficence and kindness,” he confessed. “But then in this case the person Dhanu who opted to become a human bomb was a woman. Subha, who gave moral support to sacrifice her life on the anvil of some ideology and to end up annihilating other lives, was also a woman,” he said clarifying the issue factually. “It was not the case that Nalini was caught up in a sudden situation and became a mute comrade — the mind not towing the body. It was indeed the other way round. The part played by Nalini is a candid participation in the crime of conspiracy to assassinate Rajiv Gandhi who was himself a young popular leader so much loved and respected by his fellow citizens and had been PM of India,” Justice Quadri said. “Nalini, in spite of being an Indian citizen, joined the gang of conspirators and engaged herself in pursuit of common intention to commit crime only because she was infatuated by the love and affection developed for Murugan, and thus played her part in execution of the conspiracy which resulted in the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi and death of many police officers and innocent citizens including a small girl,” he said and agreed with Justice Wadhwa that she be awarded death penalty as there was no room for leniency, kindness and beneficence for Nalini in this case.

Many people shed blood at Sriperumpudur on 21st may 1991. Their families are still weeping. Even a single person who was in the conspiracy of Killing Rajiv Gandhi should not be left out. It is the ambition of all people of India.

Nalini never confessed about the truth in Rajiv assassination case.

Nalini never confessed about the truth in Rajiv assassination case.

In her latest petition, Nalini, 37, has said that since the state government had already consulted the central government while commuting her death sentence to a life term in April 2000, there was no scope for further consultations between the governments to decide on her release. Justice Jyothimani has now posted the matter to June 10 2008 for further hearing. Arrested on June 14, 1991, Nalini was sentenced to death along with 25 others on January 28, 1998. On May 11, 1999, the Supreme Court confirmed the death sentences of four, including Nalini and her husband Murugan. Based on her mercy petition, which was supported by a state cabinet recommendation and an appeal by Sonia Gandhi on humanitarian grounds, the then Tamil Nadu Governor had commuted the death sentence to life imprisonment on April 25, 2000.

While meeting with Priyanka Vadra at the Vellore central prison on March 19. 2008,
Nalini never exposed about her involvement with the LTTE people in Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Plot.

Parthasarathy, who lives in Thiruvallur, was the 24th witness in the case. He says he spent his own money to go to court to give evidence. “No one reimbursed me. I don’t think any of us received compensation either. In fact, we would have died if we hadn’t paid for our own treatment.” Over the years, Parthasarathy has developed kidney and heart problems that his doctor had warned him about. “Both my kidneys failed, I now have my son’s kidney. And I can’t stand for more than half-an-hour.” “We have all shed blood for Rajiv Gandhi,” he says. “Why ask Nalini what happened? Ask us. We saw it all, we’ve felt it all. Priyanka should ask us. No one bothers about us,” says the man who spent 18 years as a Congress functionary.

There are fifteen other Policemen and Congress functionaries, who lost their lives along with Rajiv Gandhi in May21, 1991 at Sriperumbudur. Their families are still shedding tears and remembering the searching of the bodies of their beloved father, son and other friends in the midnight at Sriperumbudur ground and the Hospital’s. Who is going to wipe their tears?

Nalini may be having good conduct. Good conduct alone will not serve any purpose. Without fear or favour, she must talk about the truth, that who are all behind the Rajiv assassination plot. Then only her plea for release may be considered.

Never do evil that good may come of it.

Pakistan’s Nuclear Programme

Pakistan’s Nuclear Programme.

Pakistan-Arab countries ambition was to build a nuclear bomb for Islam. A number of intelligence agencies had known about this for years, but first time that the Indian public heard about this development was taken when former foreign Minister Vajpayee quietly revealed in the Lok Sabha in March 1979 that India has verified through independent sources of its own that the Pakistan nuclear programme had acquired “non-peaceful” dimensions.

The Arabs had adequate money. On the conventions front there was no problem in acquiring sophisticated weapons from the west, since the west was only too eager to recycle some of the mounting reserves of petro-dollars by selling back arms.

Two developments turned this dream into a foreseeable reality. One was the emergence of Zulifikar Ali Bhutto, the Pakistan leader, as a champion of the Islamic cause. It could not have been difficult for the flamboyant Bhutto to convince the leaders of the Arab world, particularly Saudi Arabia and Libya, that it was possible to develop an Islamic nuclear option. Secondly the Pakistan civilian nuclear programme had by then reached such a level of sophistication that it was possible for Pakistan scientists, with the facilities available to them, to embark on a weapons programme, if only it could be supported financially by the oil rich Arab countries.

There is no direct evidence of either Saudi Arabia or Libya or any other Arab country having actively collaborated with Pakistan on the nuclear project, in any case they posses neither the man power nor the industrial infrastructure to participate directly in a nuclear weapons programme.

However, Saudi Arabia and Libya have been the major financial supporters of Pakistan in this venture. Both countries have a common though nor necessarily a shared interest in nuclearising the Arab world.

The other major development which nurtured the idea of an Islamic bomb was the global proliferation of nuclear technology, materials and components. Most of the components for the fabrication of fissile material are now available in the open market, thanks to the loopholes in the Non Proliferation Treaty in which the sponsors, the nuclear weapon powers exempted themselves from all nuclear safeguards. Pakistan thro its nuclear scientists abroad and its convert industrial connections, and the Arab through their oil and money connections have considerable leverage in the European nuclear markets to get access to the required materials.

The Way of Worship in Hindu Temples.

The Way of Worship in Hindu Temples. S.V.Ramani explains in Tamil.

The consecration and inauguration of a new Hindu temple or re-consecration of an existing one is an event grand proportions and tremendous importance. Traditionally, it is considered a great and rare blessing to be present at a kumbabhishekam, and seeing at the Gopuram itself will remove our sins. And as per Hindu rituals there are ways, how to do our worship to the deities in the Temple. According to the Hindu systems we have to do our worship with devotion and sincere truth mind.

We have also to pray the God with selfless motivation to bless and uplift the world and all the people.

Congress workers throughout India must teach a lesson to “Miss Mayawati's derogatory remarks against Mahatma Gandhi the father of Indian Nation.

Congress workers throughout India must teach a lesson to “Miss Mayawati's derogatory remarks against Mahatma Gandhi the father of Indian Nation

The whole Indian Nation was shocked about the remarks made by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Miss Mayawati at Lucknow, on 15th June।: Miss Mayawati While addressing party functionaries on Saturday, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister called Mahatma Gandhi natakbaaj (a phony) who, she claimed, staged a “drama” by visiting Dalit homes and eating meals with them while doing little to help their cause।

She has come under severe criticism for her shocking remarks against the Father of the Nation. Miss Mayawati referred to Mahatma Gandhi while comparing the Congress general secretary Mr Rahul Gandhi with him. She derided Mr Gandhi for cosying up to Dalits by visiting their homes and eating meals with them. She said this was “drama” enacted by him in the interest of vote-bank politics. She went on to say that during his lifetime, Mahatma Gandhi too had resorted to such tactics. According to insiders who attended the meeting, the self-proclaimed Dalit leader said: “Visiting Dalit villages, eating and sleeping with the poor villagers and putting up a show of equality has been an old tactic of parties (like the Congress) to gain votes... Even Gandhi resorted to drama like this during his lifetime.
Her tirade against Mr Gandhi came after the state Congress announced plans to celebrate Mr Rahul Gandhi’s birthday as Samrasta Divas (Social Harmony and Equality Day) in the state on 19 June। On the
occasion, Congressmen will visit Dalit localities and homes and share meals with them.
During this second meeting of party functionaries called after the election, Miss Mayawati called upon BSP workers to ensure an attendance of more than one lakh at public meetings on the same day at headquarters in every district. She also distributed pamphlets among party workers in which she accused the Congress and other parties of engaging in a casteist conspiracy to stop her from becoming Prime Minister.Criticism followed her statement with state-level political leaders across the Opposition slammed her for her remarks.
Matawati was trying to keep the Dalit vote bank in her safe deposit, but the recent election has blown apart her dreams। Mr Gandhi has been working determinedly to implement development programmes for the Dalits, while Miss Mayawati hasn’t visited a single Dalit home or called a Dalit to her residence even once during the last two years of her being in power in U।P।
Mayavati must withdraw her senseless remarks about the Father of Indian Nation Mahathma Gandhiji.

Karunanidhi must throw his yellow Towel before asking Hindus to erase their faith in Ram-Sethu.

Karunaidhi must throw his Yellow Towel, before asking millions of Hindus to erase their faith in Ram-Sethu Bridge.

Rameswaram and Srilanka Ariel View.

On sentiment reasons, Karunanidhi always wear a Yellow towel on his shoulder for a very long period. He was unable to leave the yellow towel and telling to others that Buddha was also having the yellow Towel. When such was his strong sentiment in wearing the ordinary yellow Towel, How the millions of Hindu community people will erase the faith in the Ram-Sethu Bridge? They believe, it was constructed by Lord Rama and his followers. The Indian ancient History shows several evidences in connection with Ram-Sethu. The Tamilnadu Government is also having authentic survey records about the Ram-Sethu land mass between Srilanka and Dhanushkodi. Karunanidhi an atheist not having belief on Lord Rama on Sunday 1-6-2008, issued an appeal through a poem to agitators of Sethu samudram project, urging them to allow the scheme in the interest of Tamil Nadu.

He says, he had worked tirelessly for the uplift of the Nation and his mother tongue, but he must also respect the sentiments of Hindu community people. When he was having faith on other religions, he must also give respect to the Indian Nation and its Vedic cultural sentiments. There are several people in Tamil Nadu who have already worked tirelessly for the uplift of the Indian Nation and Tamil language. Makavi Subramania Barathiar, Thiru Vi.Ka. U.Ve. saminatha Iyer, Muthuramalinga Thevar and several other eminent Tamil scholars worked tirelessly and they never interfered in the belief of any religion.

In the interest of free flow of traffic in Marina Beach, the previous A.I.A.D.M.K. Government removed the Kannagi Statue which was erected in the mid-way of the Marina approach road. Even the then Tamil Nadu Government assured that the removed Statue will be erected in a proper place.Karunanidhi was unable to tolerate this action and created several agitations through his party. After coming to power he immediately reinstalled the Kannagi statue in the same place itself. When such was the situation, how Karunanidhi making his appeal to the several millions of Hindu community, to forget the Ram-sethu issue which is mingled in their heart.

Moreover in his application, the Janata Party leader alleged that Baalu’s family controlled firm — Meenam Fisheries Ltd — having fishing and shipping interest in the Palk Strait and Gulf of Mannar area, would “benefit tremendously from the implementation of the project.” He said this was the reason why the shipping minister was probably pushing for early commencement of the project, which had been stalled on the interim orders of the apex court.”

Now in the interest of several millions of Hindu community people, if Karunanidhi make arrangements to shift the dredging work without disturbing the Ram-Sethu Bridge, he will be definitely appreciated even by millions of followers of Lord Ram. No Hindu is ever standing as hindrance to the Rs. 2,427 crore projects and all of their humble appeal to Karunanidhi is that the Ram-Sethu should not be destroyed and the canal way may be shifted to some other place. Ram-Sethu is a monument and a worshipful place of Hindu Community like Muslims “Kabaa” and Christians Jerusalem.

All Hindu community people with folded hands request Karnanidhi not to destroy the ancient monument of Ram-Sethu with atheist mind or for some other reasons like families benefit.

Our ambition is in his present age of 85years; Karunanidhi must stand as a symbol of well wisher to all the community and get a memorable name by safe guarding the Ram-Sethu Bridge, which is regarded as a part of our country’s history.

U.S.Military aid to Pakistan was not intended to be used against India.

U.S. Military aid to Pakistan was not intended to be used against India

The country against which the U.S. military aid and alliances were directed, at least so far as official declaration in Pakistan are concerned was India. When asked if a military with the U.S. would not make a settlement of the Kashmir problem more difficult, Mohammed Ali Bogra, then Prime Minister of Pakistan said “Yes at first. But again I am convinced that ultimately it would make a settlement easier. At present we cannot get a settlement mainly because India has greater military strength and Nehru is not much interested in a settlement.
Chaudhry Mohammed Ali, another Prime Minister of Pakistan, has said that the “hope of receiving the Kashmir tangle to Pakistan’s satisfaction through the acquisition of military strength by joining Baghdad and SEATO pacts is the very raison d’etre for Pakistan to remain a member of these pacts. Subrawardy another Prime Minister of Pakistan was no less unequivocal. Pakistan, he said, would “continue to seek alliances, military and otherwise, as long as there is remote danger from India to the country’s safety and territorial integrity.” Defending the Baghdad Pact, he remarked: “Even if there is a five percent of chance of attack from India, I must be strong enough to see that that chance should be zero chance.”
Obviously, Pakistan objective was to dictate terms of a settlement on Kashmir to India from a position of strength. Speaking in the foreign affairs debate in the Pakistan National Assembly on 26th March 1956, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan said: The most notable achievement of the SEATO is the joint reaffirmation by the members of our stand on Kashmir Another Foreign Minister said at a public meeting in Lahore on 20th October 1956 that “ a powerful neighbouring country which was inimical to Pakistan had in fact forced us to seek friendship elsewhere.”“That country,” he went on, “has great differences with this country and the two pacts have enable Pakistan to ensure its defence against aggression.” The next day he confirmed that the country he had in mind was India. On another occasion he said: “Pakistan will not agree to commit suicide by getting out of the Baghdad pact which is our defence against India. Time was to show that Western Military aid to Pakistan resulted only in encouraging Pakistan to commit further aggression on India.
These statement were made and more were to be made in subsequent years, in defiance of public assurance given to India by the President of the United States and its secretary of State that U.S. Military aid to Pakistan was not intended to be used against India and that should it be so used the U.S. would come to the aid of India against Pakistan
.

The senate foreign relations Sub-committee had to warn Pakistan in 1961 that military assistance “has never been given to Pakistan for defence against possible attack from India.” These assurances were repeated in subsequent years, only to be ignored when the occasion for their fulfillment arose in 1965.

Indian Vedic Period.

Indian Vedic Period class of Division belonging to the Group of Aryas only

In early Vedic period of India several family groups are mentioned in Rig-Veda to indicate separate units. They are called as Bharatas, Matsyas, Krivis, Tritsus, Yadus, Purus, Anus and etc.

Rajan was the name for the ruling chief, primarily a leader of war. He was elected by the people. Valour and military leadership was important considerations in electing him. Several verses in Rig-Veda and Athervanaveda describe the keen contest of rival candidates in the elections of Kings. Gradually, Kingship became hereditary. The Royal treasury was filled with gifts from the people, tributes of defeated tribes and the boot of war.

In Vedic period Rajan was not an absolute monarch but a sort of dignified magistrate with only executive duties. Two assemblies, Sabha and Samiti were responsible for the government of the nation. Sabha was an assembly of the distinguished great men of various activities and Samiti was the popular assembly of all Aryas, belonging to the region. Sabhasad, the member of the Sabha was greatly respected. Gramani, the representative of the Grama [Village] was also included in the Assembly.

All the members participated in the councils held by the King to discuss the matters of government and the Rajan was to act according to the decision of the members. Purohita was the learned Vedic Pandits who guided the King and the people in all matters of religious, social customs, morality, law etc. Senani was the leader of the Army.

Some of the tribes in remote villages managed their own affairs without a King. It is explained in Vedic verses that Chiefs or Rajas met together and decided matters in the tribal assembly. The word of Raja was applied to all important persons participating in the deliberations of such assemblies.

The King was in no sense divine but was duly respected. Living in a grand palace, the King conducted his court with dignity. Administration of justice was also are his important duties. But usually the disputes were settled in the village through the arbitrator, Madh-yamsi. Crimes of theft, robbery, murder, etc, were condemned and punished with heavy fines called vairadeya and shatadaya. Failure to repay debts often resulted in slavery.

The Aryas had already a class division. In hymn Purushasukta in Rig-Veda that the four classes, Brahmana, Rajanya, vaishya, and shudra. But all are belonging to the Group of Aryas only. The classes were not distinct nor were they rigid.

Jallianwala Bagh

Jallianwala Bagh on that fateful day.

During the struggle for Indian freedom, Jallianwala Bagh stands as a milestone in Indians heart and we cannot forget the killings of innocent peoples by British Rulers.

On the March and April 1919, the struggle for the Independence was almost entirely confined to the Punjab and Western India. Most of the rioting in Delhi, Lahore, Amristar and elsewhere was characterized by racial hatred which was instigated by British Government. Without any reason, the government arrested Mahatma Gandhi on his way to Punjab and this provoked a riot in the mill town of Ahmadabad, where Gandhi was well known and loved by all. Gandhi was again released and helped to restore order.

On 15th April martial law was declared in the Punjab in consequence of a deal, which becomes one of the great rallying cries of Indian Independence. Amristar a city of
3, 00,000 inhabitants and the important religious centre of the Sikhs was about 250 miles north-west of Delhi. In Amristar on 10th April two nationalist leaders were arrested and deported. Provoked by this act of British Rulers a large crowd attempted to enter the European Cantonment and being turned away by British Army, they began rioting in city. Two banks were attacked and other Europeans were also attacked by them and railway stations set on fire.

The Military under one General Dyer restored order and all public meetings and assemblies were declared illegal. On April 13th to protest against the atrocities of General Dyer thousands of people gathered in a large enclosed ground known as “Jallianwalla Bagh”. On hearing this General Dyer personally went to the spot with ninety Gurka and Baluchi soldiers and two armoured cars with which he blocked the only exit of the Ground. Then without warning he ordered his men to open fire on the densely packed innocent people, and on his own admission fired 1605 rounds before he withdrew, ordering the armoured cars to remain and prevent anyone from leaving or entering the Bagh. Official figures gave 379 dead and 1200 wounded but really thousands of people were massacred by the shooting of cruel Dyer.

Dyer was removed from his command by British Rulers for his policy of intimidation. But his motives were supported by a large section of the British Press as well as Members of Parliament. A Sum of 26,000 euros was subscribed as a testimonial for this fine example of gallant British Soldier. But it is really a coward action of General Dyer.

On Mar 13, 1940, Udham Singh shot dead Sir Michael O’Dwyer, the DC of Amritsar during the massacre, at the Caxton Hall in London. Udham Singh was present at Jallinwala Bagh on that fateful day. According to him Sir Dwyer was actually responsible for the killings. Udham Singh was later hanged in London.

The affair of the Jallianwala Bagh certainly had a moral effect, particularly upon Gandhi. For him there was now no compromise with the British and he declared the Co-operation in any shape or form with this satanic government is sinful. General Dyers Gun brought a shameful name to the British Rulers.

“Non but the brave like Udham Singh deserve the fair”

Karunanidhi may be telling communal forces story for the sake of his family rule.

Karunanidhi’s support may be for his family rule.

DMK president M Karunanidhi on Saturday [21-6-2008] night said he would go to New Delhi to play a possible mediatory role to resolve differences between the Congress and the Left parties over the Indo-US nuclear deal. “If there is a parting of ways (between the Congress and the Left), it will only result in a victory for the communal forces.
Tamilnadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi may be telling this communal forces story for the sake of his family rule only. If CPM and CPI are not having any self respect and having no faith in Peoples democracy in India, they can join hands with Karunanidhi’s words. The present soaring prices of all commodities and the UPA Governments inability to control the prices, the common citizens in India are put into lot of problems in running their day-to-day family and are worried about the present Governments policy in every thing including N. deal with U.S.
About Karunanidhi’s family rule Jeya TV has stated as under:-The Jeya TV, owned by Jeyalalithaa, the Leader of the AIADMK has created a huge controversy in Tamil Nadu openly labeling Kanimozhi daughter of Karunanidhi as a supporter of the LTTE. Kanimozhi’s name was linked with the LTTE at a time when the Tamil Tiger leadership took a crucial decision to spend millions of dollars to buy influence using bribes both in the United States of America and India, two countries it has decided very crucial to win its separatist war in Sri Lanka. Some Indian allies of this move, Nachimuttu Socrates a rich Tamil Nadu Engineer living in the United States and Tamil Nadu based Catholic priest Gasper Raj have been close associates of Kanimozhi in various activities , the Jeya TV has alleged.Kanimozhi co-manages a cultural center called Tamil Maiyam that organized a cultural show in February called Chennai Sangamam. Jeya TV has alleged that the Tourist Department has been ordered to support the Rupees 10 mllion show. The founder of the Tamil Maiyam is the Catholic priest named Gasper Raj who claimed he was helping to fuse Mozart with Carnatic music. The Catholic priest did not have any difficulty in joining Kanimozhi since she is a strong non-believer in the pantheon of Hindu gods. Jeya TV reported that the priest Gasper Raj and Nachimuttu Socrates who was among the eight people arrested by the FBI in a sting operation in the United States for offering millions of dollars to lift the ban of the terrorist group in the United States and obtain various classified documents regarding the LTTE were working very closely with Kanimozi.
By agreeing to the US Nuclear deal, India has to accept US intervention in every nuclear project in India. The US is compelling India to be a military partner and share the unpleasant consequences of its misadventures. In India's present growing inflation situation there is no necessity to support the N.Deal. Karunanidhi may be telling to agree to the N.Deal for safeguarding his family rule.

Karunanidhi in his poetry on 5th july 2008 states, that he will burry the Vedic Sastras

Karunanidhi tells that he will burry the Vedic Sastras under a 1000 feet depth.

Karunanidhi in his poetry on 5th july 2008 states, that he will burry the Vedic Sastras [lessons] under a 1000 feet depth. The way of his writing poetry looks like a man sitting under a palm tree telling that he is taking milk. On sentiment reasons Karunanidhi was unable to remove the yellow towel from his shoulder, and tells that Vedic lessons are created against rationality.

If Karunanidhi is a real rationalist, the Hindu endowment Board is under his control, and he can issue a order to put a Notice Board in every temple that no-body should worship the deities in the temple because they were all created by Sastras. Not only that while receiving money for welfare measures from the Chief of hermitage [Adheenam ], he can tell them that they should not encourage any worship in the Temple and no schools for cultivating Vedic lessons to be conducted. While B.J.P. was in power he has attained Minister Ship for his relations and party men and at that time how he believed that BJP is not a communal party?

Now Indian people are aware of the antecedent of all party leaders and they won’t believe in any false propaganda.

Whether people worshipping God are Barbarians?

Hindustan and Pakistan Differences.

Hindustan and Pakistan Differences.

At the time of partition, as regards Kashmir, the attitude of Pakistan betrayed a series of contradictions. The ruler’s right to accede to India or Pakistan subject to the geographical compulsions and wishes of the people was upheld by Jinnah in a number of statements. But in the Kashmir case he dismissed the right of the plea that the ruler was a Hindu. The majority of the people being Muslim, they were assumed to have an objective other than that of losing their identity in Pakistan.

For several years the ruler of Kashmir Sheik Abdullah was described as a “quisling”. It is equally fashionable in Pakistan to enforce the martial law at home, to suppress liberty, to deny basic rights to its inhabitants and to control over Press.

The leaders of Pakistan make professions of peace and train professional “liberators” the wars upon Kashmir and other parts of India. When Pakistan claims to Kashmir on the grounds of religion prove of little avail they shift the basis of their territorial demands to the requirements of Pakistan’s communication, economy and defence

Another problem which has bedeviled relations between the two countries is evacuee property. During partition millions of people migrated from West Pakistan to India and from North India to West Pakistan, not to mention many more who were forced to India from East Pakistan. The migrants from West Pakistan were mostly land owners, entrepreneurs in business and industry, and members of various professions like Law, Medicine and Teaching. Those who left India for Pakistan belonged mainly to the poorer classes, being tillers of the soil, artisans, labourers and petty shop keepers..

The value of evacuee urban property left by Hindus and Sikhs in West Pakistan amounts to over several billion dollars against less than Rs.100 Crores worth of property left behind by Muslim migrants to Pakistan.

Hindustan and Pakistan Differences.

Hindustan and Pakistan Differences.
{Part-II}

India accepted an agreement in January 1949, which provided for private sale and exchange of urban immovable property between Hindustan and Pakistan. No sooner was agreement signed; Pakistan leaders and News papers opened a barrage of propaganda to undermine it. The government of Pakistan followed up with an ordinance making it obligatory for any visitor to Pakistan to obtain an income-tax clearance certificate before leaving Pakistan unless his period of stay was less than 15 days at a time and less than 60 days in a year.

In the above circumstances that no displaced person could hope to sell or exchange his urban immovable property at a fair price. The government of Pakistan while supporting the proposal for private sale and exchange of property, in fact rendered it impossible for anyone to arrange sale or exchange without inviting insolvency.

In April 1956, Pakistan proposed a spot verification of claims by a Pakistan team for immovable property of the value of Rs.50 lakhs and above submitted by Muslim evacuees from India. Two years later it was agreed at a conference that claims for urban immovable property of the value of Rs. 5 lakhs and above should be verified by joint teams of Hindustan and Pakistan. The proposal, which Pakistan had made on its own initiative, was however not implemented by its government.

As regards agricultural lands, the principal of government –to-government has been accepted by a joint committee of the two countries. A problem of enormous magnitude and complexity involving hundreds of thousands of houses, shops, factories, workshops and institutions of all kinds, besides million of acres of agricultural land, could be solved only at government level.

The value of urban evacuee property in India does not exceed 20 percent of the value of the corresponding property left in Pakistan. India suggested that properties up to a certain valuation might be exchanged on government-to-government level, properties above that valuation being left open for private sale and exchange.

In 1953, India expressed its willingness to consider the Pakistan suggestion of private sale and exchange, provided the government of Pakistan was prepared to offer a reasonable solution for the properties which would remain undisposed of by private sale and exchange. To Hindustan’s regret, Pakistan refused even to discuss this and other implications of the proposal for private sale and exchange.

Nehru-Liaquat Agreement

Nehru-Liaquat Agreement.

THE Nehru-Liaquat agreement on 8th April 1950 made an important provision about minorities in Pakistan and Hindustan. Article ‘A’ of the Agreement stated as under:-

The Government of India and Pakistan solemnly agree that each shall ensure to the minorities throughout its territory complete equality of citizenship, irrespective of religion, a full sense of security in respect of live, culture, property and personal honour, freedom of movement within each country and freedom of occupation, speech and worship, subject to law and morality. Members of the minority shall have equal opportunity with members of majority community to participate in the public life of the country. Both Governments declare there rights to be fundamental and undertake to enforce them effectively.

The prime Minister of India has drawn attention to the effect that these rights are guaranteed to all minorities in India by its constitution. The Prime Minister of Pakistan has pointed out that similar provision exists in the Objectives Resolution adopted by
The constituent Assembly of Pakistan.

No one can pretend that in India there are no regrettable communal incidents since the Agreement was signed. What can be claimed is that, in spite of poisonous propaganda by the Muslim League prior to the partition and by Pakistan after it. The Government of India and the state governments have tried their best to adhere to the principle and purposes of secular democracy. The policy has been acclaimed by many independent
Authorities including several Islamic states.

In Pakistan on the other hand, the treatment of minorities leaves them as only second-class citizens, serving as targets for periodic, officially stimulated mass attacks on their life, honour and property. Thousands of communal incidents have taken place in the two wings of Pakistan on most of which Government of India and the state Governments concerned have had to lodge protests with Pakistan authorities though in vain.

The squeeze is put on helpless minorities to force them to flee to India and in the process to seize their property, to molest their women and subject them to forced conversion.
There are hardly any minorities left in West Pakistan, and, already, nearly five million inhabitants, including Buddhists and Christians have been forced out of East Pakistan. Discrimination is exercised against minorities in employment, business and rent remittances and their immovable properties are requisitioned or acquired by force. They are also subjected to a systematic and discriminatory denial of Pass Port and Visa facilities.
